Before You Register

Is the website secure?
Absolutely!

I am new to NSL and I want to play, how do I find more information about upcoming leagues? (For example: Coed Flag Football, Winter season)
From the NSL home page, select "Play" to view "Upcoming Leagues." Leagues are listed under their respective sport. Click the yellow links to dial into more detailed information about each league.

What level of play is good for me?
If a league is listed as super social it is designed for beginners (less than 3 seasons of the sport of choice experience) or falling in the bottom of your past leagues. It will also have rule modifications to make the game more focused on having fun rather than competition. Most of our leagues with 12 or more teams will use swiss scheduling. This method will make weekly schedules that are based on results from your previous game(s) played and keep the skill level of most games a lot closer than random scheduling. NSL leagues listed as doubles in softball are for those of a competitive nature.

What do some of the league descriptions mean?
You may run into some terminology that you are not familiar with when reading league details. A league listed as singles or doubles in softball means 1 single header game or 2 double header games back to back. A league listed as open in soccer means that there are no gender rules. A league in flag football listed as semi, screen or no contact refers to the style of blocking used in the game.

What is the minimum number of players I need to start a team?
Each sport has a different minimum roster requirement and the specific number can be found in the 'Format' section of a particular league page or league rules.

What is the cost per team?
Follow the same path as described above, the answer can be found in the 'Cost' section of that league page. Each league has a minimum required paid player spots.

What is the minimum age requirement?
Players must 21 years old or older to participate in NSL.

What is the deadline for registration?
The latest we will accept a team registration is 4 business days prior to the start of a league or until that league fills up. If you're interested in participating, it is strongly recommended that you register sooner rather than later because many of our leagues sell out long before the beginning of the season. We cannot hold spots.

Can I make a scheduling request?
Effective Spring 2022, there is a scheduling request fee. Schedule requests for a certain day is $25; schedule requests for a whole season is $60. Schedule requests can be made under the comments section when registering or by emailing [email protected].

Is there a loyalty program?
The more teams you register in a year, the bigger the perks!
         -5 teams: free scheduling requests.
-7 teams: preseason rollover registration. Register for next season before the public.
-9 teams: sponsor prize swag pack!

Do I have to have a team to register?
NO! Free agents and small groups are encouraged to register, especially if you all don't know anybody and/or don't have enough players for a full team. Every season, we create "Free Agent" teams comprised of free agent registrants for leagues. We build the rosters and then send information to all of the free agents on a team. We try to do this as early as possible so everyone can contact each other prior to the start of the season. We do not offer free agent registration for every league.

Can I be placed on a team with my friend(s) or coworker(s)?
Yes! When you register as a free agent, if you place the names of your friend(s) and/or coworker(s) in the comment section, we can guarantee you're placed on the same team.

What is the refund policy?
The only acceptable form of requesting to be withdrawn from a league is to email NSL. There are absolutely no refund for leagues or events that are modified or cancelled.

  • Teams
Credits and Refunds - Processing fee is returned only if the league is canceled
0-7 days prior to the league start - no credit and no individial/team processing fee*
8-14 days prior to the league start - provide credit but not individual/team processing fee*
15 days prior to the league start - provide refund but not individual/team processing fee

*if there is a waitlist and the spot can and is filled, participant can be issued a refund 8-14 prior and a credit 0-7 days prior
  • If a season is shortened for inclement weather or league format adjustments we will provide a credit for a future season.

Fees

What are the Team Sizes and Fees?
We’ll outline how our fees are structured, how to pay, and what the roster minimums and maximums are below:

  • Free Agent Registration
Free Agent registration is comprised of a single participant or small group. In the case of a small group, we can ensure friends or co-workers are placed together on the same team if a request is made during the registration process. To make your request, simply place your requested teammates first and last name in the comment section of the registration form. Free agents are placed on a team with other free agents.
  • Team Registration
A captain has the ability to pay the entire team fee or split it up so that each player on the team can pay his/her portion. The captain may pay the entire team fee by simply placing the appropriate amount in the payment field under the TEAM PAYMENT (INDIVIDUAL): section of the registration form.
  • Corporate teams
Companies often times need an unlimited amount of players. For NSL’s corporate team pricing structure please email [email protected] with your designated sport and day of the week.
  • Team size
Each sport has a team size. The team size is the minimum number of roster spots that are required to be paid. There is not a maximum number of roster spots on a team. Once a player signs/accepts either the online roster/waiver form OR signs a waiver/roster form at the facility (“offline”) they count toward the roster size, even if they do not play again. Players cannot be “replaced” once they are on a team (ALL players must sign digitally or offline before playing). If a team needs FREE AGENTS added please email [email protected] and we will try to find players for your team. Any player, placed by NSL on a non-free agent team, will be charged the free agent fee. That amount minus a $10 admin fee will be credited to the team.

What is the deadline for payment?
A minimum of $150 in payments is due to be placed on the schedule. Team payments are due in full no later than 4 business days prior the first scheduled game of the season. If you don't pay, you don't play.

Do registration fees include shirts?
Shirts are not provided. Top bracket champions only will receive shirts.

Are we required to have uniforms?
Jerseys are not required. Teams should wear similar colored shirts (except bowling, cornhole & volleyball). To avoid team color conflicts, we encourage players to bring a back up shirt of a different color
(example: black & white) to each game of the season. Numbers on the back of shirts are required in basketball.

My team has a conflict with a game posted, can we reschedule?
Any season requests must be received before the schedule is posted. Once a schedule is posted we do not change. Any requests for a schedule change may incur a minimum of a $35 rescheduling fee.

Before The Schedule Is Released

Can I confirm that my team is registered?
Yes! When you log into your NSL account, you will be able to view the status of your team through your player dashboard.

How do I create a roster and invite others to play on my team?
Captains can build their rosters through their profile by logging into www.nashvillesportsleagues.com.

First, select the team you are captaining under "Current Teams", then "Add Player" at the bottom to send player invitations via email to join your team. Those invited will be required to create an NSL login (if not currently a NSL website member), then will be able to accept or decline your team invitation.
ALL players must be invited to the team by the captain AND accept the online invitation in order to be listed on the team roster.

Roster checks with a photo ID will be performed at the field before the first regular season and before every playoff game. Any roster substitutes MUST create a NSL player profile to accept a team invitation from the captain via the NSL website. A player must be listed on a team's roster in order to be eligible to participate in the tournament. All players who participate in a minimum of one game will be listed on a team's roster.  Any players that have not accepted the online invitation by midnight of the LAST GAME OF THE SEASON will not be eligible to participate in league playoffs. Rosters are open and able to be edited until the end of your final regular season game(midnight).

When will my schedule come out?
The league schedule is released when the league fills up, or no later than 2 business days prior to the scheduled first game of the season. Any season requests must be received before the schedule is posted. Once a schedule is posted we do not change. Any requests for a schedule change may incur a minimum of a $35.00 fee.

Can I change my team name?
Yes, but only the designated team captain has the ability to change the team name. Captains can log into the NSL website, click on the team they are captaining, and can proceed to "Change Team Name".

Can I change my nickname/shirt size?
Your nickname can be changed through your player dashboard. You will go to the NSL website, log into your player profile, click "Edit my Profile" on the left hand side, and then you can change the information in the field under "Nickname" to the new name. The instructions are the same for shirt size.

Can I change my password?
Your password can be changed through your player dashboard as well. You will go to the NSL website, log into your player profile, click "Change Password" on the left hand side, and then enter your new designated password.

Does NSL provide balls?
Each team is required to bring a ball to all games especially for warm-up purposes. NSL only provides equipment to NSL's free agent teams, when applicable. We DO NOT provide equipment for other teams, but can sell you any quantity you want for an extra charge.

  • Kickballs - $15/ball
  • Softballs - $7/ball

What bats/balls are approved for softball?
View our rules page for approved equipment.

What is the maximum players on a roster?
The number is based upon the sport and division. Please view: Team Sizes and Fees

We generally will begin sending information as soon as we know we will have enough players to finalize the "Free Agent" team.
  • Will I be placed on an existing team?
Registrants will be placed on a team call the "Free Agents" created by NSL along with the other individuals who have signed up for the same sport and division. On very rare occasion, players will be placed on existing teams.

During The Season

Will games be played on holidays?
Leagues will not play on: Easter, Memorial weekend (Sunday & Monday), 4th of July, Labor Day weekend (Sunday & Monday), Thanksgiving (Wednesday-Saturday), Christmas, and New Years

What happens when there is inclement weather?
Leagues may be canceled due to weather conditions, dangerous or unplayable field conditions, facility constraints, etc. The NSL staff makes every effort to play all scheduled games, thus we will not cancel games until absolutely necessary. If you are calling/emailing concerning a decision on a cancelation, remember we will not have an answer until closer to the start time of the league, at the latest 4:00PM on the day of scheduled games in question.

All cancelations will be posted to two (2) outlets: NSL Facebook Page & NSL Twitter. NSL will NOT notify captains via email or phone of weather cancelations. It is the captain's responsibility to inform all teammates of any cancelations. If inclement weather develops during league play, NSL staff will attempt to contact those remaining teams scheduled to play that day/night. Depending on the time of cancellation, some teams will have to be notified on site.

When games are canceled, follow next week's schedule (ex. If April 13 is cancelled teams should follow the April 20 schedule for their next game). A reschedule email went be sent out to the entire league following a rainout. NSL reserves the right to run a shortened season without a refund. NSL also reserves the right to schedule games on days and locations other than you're regularly scheduled league day/night/venue if necessary.

NSL will push a season back 2 weeks before providing credits for future participation. Rainout reschedules may result in double headers during the regular season.

Will my team have a double header during the season?
Teams may incur double headers during the regular season depending on the amount of teams in a league, rainouts, and schedule requests. This may also result in your team having a bye one week during the season as well.

My team is going to have to forfeit, what do I need to do?

Notifications of forfeits must be sent by EMAIL ONLY ([email protected]) to the NSL office by 4PM on weekdays and 8AM on weekends. This allows us time to notify the opponent of the forfeiture so they don't go to a facility. A win and a set score will be awarded to the team not at fault. Any team with a forfeit will automatically drop to the bottom of any tie breaking situation in league standings.

If notifications are not received by the deadline, the team captain will be invoiced for $30.00 and the opposing team will be rewarded with a gift certificate (where applicable) to a sponsor bar (this does not apply to free agent teams). Teams that are notified of a forfeit before arriving to a facility will not receive a gift card. Teams that play one game out of a doubleheader will not receive a forfeit.

*Teams are required to complete the $30.00 payment online before they are eligible to play the following week. Teams that forfeit 3 times according our policies will be removed from the league without a refund or credit.

**Forfeit fees cannot be collected from teams who have dropped out of the league or during playoff/tournament games. Therefore, opponents will not receive a gift card.

***Weather supersedes forfeits

Where do I find the rules?

League Playoffs

When will the league playoffs begin?
Typically, league playoffs will begin the week following the final regular season games and will be played on the same day as the regular season. In the case of 2 or more rainouts during the season, NSL reserves the right to host games on days/locations other than a normal day of play or venue.

How do the standings determine the seeding?
Teams are seeded according to forfeits, winning percentage, head to head competition, point differential, points against and points for. Any team with a recorded forfeit will automatically fall to the bottom of any tie breaker situation.

When/Where can I pick up my Champs gift card?
Top bracket winners and runner-ups will receive gift cards to a sponsor bar. They will be awarded at the facility following the championship game (effective Spring 2017).

Who is invited to the Player Appreciation party at the end of the season?

Everyone! All NSL players and friends/family can attend the event. All players who have accepted their online roster for the season will receive complimentary drinks at the party.
